Blogmas Day 9 - Charlevoix
/We’re home! What a lovely weekend it ended up being. Such a sad feeling when Monday finally rolls back around again, but at least we made some great memories to get us through another week. So, as promised, for today’s Blogmas Day 9, I thought I’d share some more snaps and thoughts about mine and Ethan’s trip up north to Charlevoix.
I booked the trip through Live From Charlevoix - a two-night stay with all the beer flights and appetizers a couple could handle in a weekend. Neither of us had ever spent any real time in Charlevoix to speak of, so we didn’t know what to expect. But, he enjoys a good beer flight and I wanted to make his birthday special, so up north we drove.
I could spend hours rehashing every moment of the trip, but I’ll save both of us the time by saying - we ate, drank, and had so much fun!
I’m not a beer fan - never have been - but I promised Ethan that I’d order a flight with him each time and not only try my own beer but try his as well. Low and behold, by the end of day two I actually found a couple of beers that I could order when we’re out sometime! I’d say that makes our mission a success! I wouldn’t say I love it, but that CEO Stout by Right Brained Brewery is pretty good. Who would have guessed I’d be a stout girl? #shook
We tasted the most at Lake Charlevoix Brewing Company and their sister store the Bridge Street Tap Room. They both had a wide variety of weird beers and snacks to tickle any craft beer connoessiur’s fancy, and a fun atmosphere to enjoy while you drank.
But we also visited The Villager Pub, The Town House Bar, The Cantina, and East Park Tavern for snacks and drinks throughout the weekend. All interesting and worth visiting if you’re ever in the area. That was the best part about this trip - getting to experience a little bit of what all these places have to offer. Variety is the spice of life, so they say!
My favorite place of the weekend was our quaint little breakfast nook called Harwood Gold. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE COFFEE to go along with their adorable, calming interior and yummy AF pastries. They specialize in maple syrup, but they’re great at everything else they do, too. Go there and tell them I sent you - I just can’t stop raving about the place!
Beyond the eating and drinking, we did some shopping and hot tubbing, but mostly just smiling and having a really nice time.
Our hotel was nice, the people were nicer - all around I have nothing but positive things to say about the trip and the place. I know, shocker coming from me, right?
